Silence is not always golden

Allen, over on The Right Christians wonders why only conservative Christians were invited to give testimony on the proposed federal marriage amendment. Could it be that the conservatives are considered the voice of all of Christendom?

Thanks to Religious Liberal for pointing me to a few progressive voices that are willing to speak up. Alan Jones, Dean of Grace Cathedral, is quoted. He is the author of many books, including A Passion for Pilgrimage, from which I pulled some lengthy quotes in the Longing for Home piece.

I hope that more voices might speak out from the perspective of seeing God calling all people to become citizens of the kingdom, not just those who fit our cookie-cutter design of what it means to be Christian.

On a completely unrelated note, the first two volumes of Daniel Matt's translation of The Zohar are now available, for those interested in such things. I"ve ordered both, but haven't looked at them yet. The hype is that this may become THE translation.

J.
