An Example of Why Outsiders Reject Christianity

Here's a few quotes from a "Christian" leader, of the Anglican persuasion, no less:

From March, 2000:

...A senior Anglican bishop has attacked married couples who opt to remain childless, saying that producing children is their basic duty...

...(He) condemned those who chose not to have children as "self-indulgent"...
From May, 2002:

A leading bishop gave moral support to a possible war against Iraq yesterday, saying that pre-emptive action was justified if there was persuasive evidence that Saddam Hussein was developing weapons of mass destruction...

...His robust stance is at odds with that of Dr Williams, who was among a number of Anglican and Roman Catholic bishops who signed a petition to Downing Street last month giving warning that war against Iraq would be "immoral and illegal"...
From October, 2007:

...A senior Church of England conservative has intensified the storm over homosexuals in the clergy by warning he will boycott next summer's Lambeth Conference if liberal American bishops are invited...

...(He) said profound differences needed to be resolved because the American Church had now drifted apart from traditional Christianity in a number of fundamental areas.

He claimed that American clergy were increasingly weaving other faiths such as Buddhism and Hinduism into their worship and many regarded the Bible as a man-made book that could be rewritten rather than a revelation from God...
From January, 2008:

...Islamic extremists have created "no-go" areas across Britain where it is too dangerous for non-Muslims to enter, one of the Church of England's most senior bishops warns today...

... (He) says that people of a different race or faith face physical attack if they live or work in communities dominated by a strict Muslim ideology...

...(He) compares the threat to the use of intimidation by the far-Right, and says that it is becoming increasingly difficult for Christianity to be the nation's public religion in a multifaith, multicultural society...

...(He) gives warning that attempts are being made to give Britain an increasingly Islamic character by introducing the call to prayer and wider use of sharia law, a legal system based on the Koran.

In an attack on the Government's response to immigration and the influx of "people of other faiths to these shores", he blames its "novel philosophy of multiculturalism" for allowing society to become deeply divided, and accuses ministers of lacking a "moral and spiritual vision"...
Who is this public witness to the world of what Christians are all about? None other than the Anglican Bishop of Rochester, the Right Reverend Dr. Michael Nazir-Ali, who some expected would follow George Carey as the next Archbishop of Canterbury. There are whispers that he may yet end up in Canterbury if Dr. Williams retires.

And we wonder why some of our younger generations consider Christians to be homophobic, judgmental and hypocritical.

J.
